The Rev. Dr. Prentice Kinser III

The author of Limitless Living, A Guide to Unconventional Spiritual Exploration and Growth,  Rev. Prentice Kinser III, D.Min., has retired from full-time parish ministry as an Episcopal Priest.  

Dr. Kinser served from 2000 to November 1, 2010 as Rector of two Episcopal parishes in Virginia.  He was Interim Rector of St. Georges Episcopal Church, 1999-2000. While working on his doctorate, 1992-1997 and immediately thereafter, he served as Sunday and/or Summer Supply Priest, at numerous Episcopal Churches in the Diocese of Virginia, including: St. James the Less, Ashland; St. Dunstan’s, McLean; Trinity, Manassas; Trinity, Washington; St. James’, Mt. Vernon; Christ, Charlottesville; St. Paul’s, Charlottesville; Trinity, Charlottesville; Grace, The Plains; Trinity, Fredericksburg; and, Calvary, Front Royal.  He also served as Rector of St. James' Church, Warrenton, Virginia, 1981-1992.

Dr. Kinser has been an ordained minister (Episcopal priest) for over 33 years, has received a D.Min. (Doctor of Ministry) degree in pastoral counseling and psychotherapy, has also earned M.Div., M.B.A., and B.A. degrees, is certified as a Pastoral Counselor and Fellow by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, and is Diplomate, National Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist.

After college Dr. Kinser explored a variety of vocations as a chemistry and physics teacher, as administrative assistant to the Dean of the University of Virginia Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, as vice president of Motivational Concepts, Inc., as a real estate broker in Charlottesville, Virginia, and at one point he even attended medical school for three semesters. 

Dr. Kinser is the author of the doctoral thesis Prophecy, Trance and Transference: Hypnosis as a Pastoral Counseling Modality, and of the text, Limitless Living, A Guide to Unconventional Spiritual Exploration and Growth.  He and his wife currently reside in Ashland, Virginia and are parents of three children and four grandchildren.
